At today’s CrossFit class, we had a guest instructor. He had an accent, and I guessed he was a Kiwi. It was the way he pronounced “hard.”
Turns out, he’s actually from north of Manchester. Hey, I was only … what? … about 10,000 miles off?
Sigh. I am so bad at identifying accents, even those with their roots in England. I mean, an English person can tell the difference in a second. I usually get everything wildly wrong. I mean, I thought a Mancunian was a Kiwi. Next I’ll get mixed up between Liverpudlians and Ozzies. And don’t even get me started on the Welsh.
Do I have any readers who can set me straight and tell me what to listen for?
BTW, the instructor was great. Helpful, but not overbearing. We started with some warmups before going into four three-minute rounds of 400-meter runs and as many reps of cleans as we could squeeze in.
