I attended the meeting tonight about the “unofficial” bike park in Tempe. I’m still skeptical, but the approach from city officials seems to give mountain bikers some reason for optimism.
It was a really good turnout … I’d say at least 30 mountain bikers showed up. That includes a bunch from the Gravity Riders Organization of Arizona. I also spotted Alan Shelton of McDowell Mountain McPump Track fame. He realized I had trouble recognizing him, though … it’s been a few months, and I didn’t realize it was him without trailbuilding tools in his mitts!
Anyway, you can check out my Examiner.com story about the meeting.
