There’s been some interesting mountain bike news here in Arizona. First of all, the state’s first pump track on public land is scheduled to open in late August. That’s huge – it’s a nice bit of cooperation between McDowell Mountain Regional Park and volunteers. And mountain bikers can turn mileage into money for their favorite charity. It’s because of a social network that tracks mileage and matches riders with companies that will shell out for a cause when they hit the trails

Take a Ride McDowell Mountain Park’s Trails

If you’re reading this and you don’t work for Specialized, the Trail Crew is essentially a bunch of brand ambassadors that gets out there, riding, doing trail maintenance and generally being cool to other riders so they forward that coolness to others.
Well, [...]
Beware the Jumping Cactus – or Any Cactus, Really
I broke one of my cardinal rules of mountain biking today. Which one? Well, just the one that states:
Don’t do anything stupid, like run into cactuses.
See, I was on an unfamiliar trail. I was looking too far ahead on the trail, trying to determine its contour and direction. I was examining all this so carefully [...]
